HOW TO CHANGE TEMPO IN ABLETON LIVE 10 PRO
Complex or Complex Pro are best for mixed-down songs. You may want to play with the warp modes for better sound. You can click and drag in the tempo field to change the tempo of your loop. You can click on the word "Length" to zoom in to that loop. You can turn on the metronome to hear that the track is warped correctly throughout. Live generally gets it right at this point.
If the first beat is wrong, double-click on the transient above the "one" to create a yellow Warp Marker you can double-click on a Warp Marker to remove one as well. Now, you need to find the first beat, or the "one. However, if you want to "tighten up" the warping, or if Live did not get it right, follow the next steps. Drag an audio file wav, aiff, mp3 into Live, from Live's Browser, directly from iTunes or from your desktop. In Live, the pins are called Warp Markers.Ableton's Warping functionality lets you easily timestretch tracks for beatmatching, mash-ups and sampling. Think of a sample as a rubber-band that you want to pin to a musical time ruler. All clips will then be set to Follower, but the tempo automation will remain in place. This is achieved by adding tempo automation to the Master track for the duration of the tempo leader clip. The clip that is the current tempo leader will play as if warping was offbut with one important difference - the rest of the Live Set will be warped so that it plays in sync with the current tempo leader. This distinction is always granted to the bottom-most, currently playing clip in the Arrangement View. Any number of clips can be set as tempo leadersbut only one clip at a time can actually be the tempo leader. If you would rather have Live default to playing long samples as they are, disengage this preference. Turn the Warp switch on to play rhythmically structured samples such as sample loops, music recordings, complete music pieces, etc.
This is useful for samples that have no inherent rhythmic structure: percussion hits, atmospheres, sound effects, spoken word and the like. This ensures that those apps remain tempo synced, and also at the correct position in the musical phrase. The more taps Live receives in a row, the more precisely it will be able to conclude the desired tempo. Although Live responds to your tapping immediately, it does apply some degree of inertia to prevent sluggish behavior in the software. The Tap button can also be assigned to a MIDI note or controller, like a foot switch, in a similar fashion. The assignment will take effect immediately. You can also assign the Tap button to a computer key instead of using the mouse. Please refer to the chapter on synchronization see Chapter 30 for details. You can have an external sequencer or drum machine play along with Live or have Live play along with the sequencer. Setting one knob to control coarse tempo in BPM and another to control fine tempo in hundredths of a BPM allows for enough precision to adjust to live performers or other unsynchronized sources. You can even automate the tempo see For maximum tempo control during performance, you can MIDI map see Chapter 27 separate controllers to the Tempo field on both sides of the decimal point. Mixing and matching audio from different origins is therefore extremely easy. This happens without affecting the pitch, which can be changed independently.
